• Safely park your car.
• If your car is on the road, put your hazard warning lights on. If you have broken down at night, put your sidelights on as well.
• If you have broken down on the roadside, it may be safer to get out of the vehicle using the passenger side door.
• Make sure that you and your passengers remain a safe distance away from oncoming traffic, ideally on a bank or behind barriers. If you are actually at home then you can go back indoors.
• Call your home start breakdown cover providers to report your breakdown and let them know that you require assistance.
