Home Start Breakdown Cover

Our UK Home Start Car Breakdown Cover

Our home start breakdown cover helps to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that you and your vehicle will always be taken care of, whenever or wherever you break down. Breaking down at or near home is quite common. Typically, if your car does not start, it could be due to a flat battery, a failing starter motor, or possibly an issue with the alternator - all things that we will try to resolve, roadside, if we can.

Why do you need home start breakdown cover?

At some point, most cars will experience problems that could lead to them breaking down. While some insurers require you to be a certain distance from home, we pride ourselves on providing cheap breakdown cover, including home start. You can rely on our breakdown cover when you need it most.

Whether you find yourself with a flat tyre, have lost your car key, or put the wrong fuel in your car (‘misfuelling’) – whatever the issue might be – we are here to help get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

What does home start breakdown cover include?

Our home start car breakdown cover includes:

  • Roadside assistance – we’ll send someone to try and repair your vehicle, at the roadside
  • Local recovery – if roadside repair is not possible, we will tow your car to a nearby garage
  • National recovery – if roadside repair is not possible, we will tow your car to a nearby garage and get you home
  • Home start – our breakdown cover includes cars that will not start when you are at or near your home

What to do, if you break down

Until your car breaks down, you may not have given the scenario much consideration. If your car will not start and you are at home, it is important to make sure you and your car are safe and not causing a hazard to other road users. If you break down at or near home, we recommend following these simple steps:

  • Safely park your car.
  • If your car is on the road, put your hazard warning lights on. If you have broken down at night, put your sidelights on as well.
  • If you have broken down on the roadside, it may be safer to get out of the vehicle using the passenger side door.
  • Make sure that you and your passengers remain a safe distance away from oncoming traffic, ideally on a bank or behind barriers. If you are actually at home then you can go back indoors.
  • Call your home start breakdown cover providers to report your breakdown and let them know that you require assistance.
